A Story Stirred with Passion

Deb’s culinary journey began in the most humble of settings—watching his grandfather transform simple ingredients into magical meals. From overcoming
personal challenges as a young student to stepping into the world spotlight on MasterChef, Deb’s path has been anything but ordinary. Whether perfecting the art of the Indian thali or deconstructing the idea of fine dining,
Deb believes every dish tells a story. His travels, from bustling streets in India to the kitchens of France, have shaped a chef who isn’t just a creator but a bridge between worlds.

Learning from Legends
My journey in culinary education reached its peak at the prestigious Institute Paul Bocuse, where I completed my Master’s in Culinary Innovation & Leadership. The halls of Chez Château de Paul Bocuse and the mentorship from iconic chefs like Anne-Sophie Pic transformed the way I view food—not just as flavor, but as culture, science, and narrative.
My learning wasn't confined to one kitchen. From Chef Matthew during my time at IHM Chennai, to co-hosting with Chef Nicolas Rieffel, and exchanges with chefs like Quentin (Bistro Dupark, Delhi), my training has always balanced heritage with innovation.
Whether it was dissecting Indian cuisine through French eyes or developing scalable, chef-independent kitchens, each collaboration added a new layer to my craft.

Food Tours Across India

I believe food begins with place—and my culinary philosophy was built city by city across India. From the tribal food of Jamshedpur, street food in Kolkata, to banana leaf meals in Kochi, I immersed myself in regional techniques, traditions, and people.
These weren't just travels—they were food tours with purpose, allowing me to connect with farmers, home cooks, and vendors to understand what makes Indian cuisine so varied and soulful.
Whether it was the spice markets of Delhi, dabbas in Mumbai, or local flavors in Coorg, each dish taught me something—and these teachings now form the backbone of what I serve in France today.
